Nicole Gates

Chief Credit Officer

Nicole has 31 years' experience in the Financial Services industry including senior roles in the Risk function at GE Capital and Dresdner Bank.

Nicole joined Pemberton as a Partner in 2016 and is the Chief Credit Officer, responsible for the independent credit function. Nicole co-chairs the Credit Review Committee at Pemberton Capital Advisors LLP. She holds primary responsibility for implementing restructuring and recovery strategies where needed.

Nicole was previously a Managing Director and the Head of Restructuring at GE Capital International from 2005 to 2015 with primary hands-on portfolio management responsibility for international stressed/distressed assets. Nicole was responsible for overseeing Early Warning systems, Watchlist policies and valuation models.

Prior to GE Capital, Nicole spent 18 years at Dresdner Kleinwort, most recently as Managing Director in the Institutional Restructuring Unit in London, heading the European Portfolio. Previously, Nicole was Head of International Intensive Care Unit managing a portfolio of international distressed debt and local work-out teams in Asia, North America and Europe.

During her long career at Dresdner Kleinwort, Nicole also headed the team analysing and approving Leveraged Finance and Project Finance exposures.

Nicole began her career in 1986 as a member of the graduate training scheme at Kleinwort Benson, joining corporate banking in 1987 as a portfolio manager focusing on mid-market direct lending

Nicole holds a MA in Classics from Cambridge University and a Diploma, Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants.
