Symon Drake-Brockman has over 32 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry including senior executive positions at RBS, ING Barings and JPMorgan.
Symon is the founder and Managing Partner of Pemberton. Symon is responsible for leading the development and execution of the firm’s long term strategy, including taking an active role in the selection and structuring of investments for Pemberton’s funds as well as overseeing the ongoing management of the funds to achieve their investment objectives. Symon is a member of the board of Pemberton Asset Management Holding, Executive Management Committee of Pemberton Capital Advisors LLP and is co-chair of the Credit Review Committee.
Prior to founding Pemberton, Symon held a number of senior executive positions for banks in Europe, the US and Asia.
Symon worked at RBS from 2001 to 2009, where he was latterly Global Head of Debt Markets, with responsibility for all debt markets activities across trading, sales, research and origination, including leveraged finance, high yield, capital markets and loan syndications. During this period, RBS Debt Markets grew to be the #1 underwriter of syndicated loans in Europe, #1 in corporate debt underwriting and #5 in global debt underwriting. In 2008, he was also appointed CEO of Global Banking & Markets for the Americas and was responsible for restructuring and refocusing the division, resulting in record revenues in 2009.
Previously, Symon worked at ING Barings from 1994 to 2001, where his roles included Global Head of Debt Products, with responsibility for all emerging markets and high yield underwriting and origination, and Regional Head of Financial Markets, Asia Pacific.
Symon began his career at JP Morgan, where he was responsible for establishing the bank’s corporate trading desk in New York in 1988, and has also worked at Kleinwort Benson and BSI Investment Management.
Symon graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Commerce.Back to the team
